Photo Shoot

Tonight I did a little photo shoot of baby Darla. I have this fancy Nancy camera that I haven't really had time to figure out so I played around with it a little tonight and had fun doing a little "photo shoot" for little sweetie. Here is a little sample of what came out. Enjoy!

Kansas State Fair

Oh, good ole times at the Kansas State Fair. It was a beautiful day today so John and I loaded up the little ones and headed to Hutchinson for the State Fair.

You see a little of everything at the State Fair...Lots of tatoos that make your child ask, "momma, what's all over her arm?" while she is standing 2 feet from you, Luckily she was yelling at her kids so she didn't hear. :) You see lots of people, one of which was a tiny baby, younger than Darla, with a KU Jayhawk sticker/tatoo right smack dab on his forehead!! John did have a good point in the fact that no, we probably won't ever know them. :) LOL. Lots of animals, the pig races, a man that carves a log into a really cool tree with a chain saw, another man that rides on horses and does all sorts of gymnastic type moves while they are trotting around. You see boats and grills and fourwheelers and hot tubs and that's just the beginning.

Then you see the food....at the corner of sweet stuff street and deep fried avenue. Man alive....if you can eat it you can deep fry it at the State Fair. Pickles, oreos, candy bars, corn dogs, AKA Pronto Pups, fruit, cheesecake...the list goes on and on and it's amazing how long people will wait in line for this stuff AND pay for this stuff. BUT, we all do it to take in the good times of the State Fair. :)

We really did have a great time. Spanky loved seeing all of the animals at the petting zoo. We also got to see the 4-H cows, goats and pigs. We also rode the BIG TALL slide. It's so fun to see the pure joy in your child's face when they see something fascinating. Baby Darla enjoyed it as well, she was awake most of the time enjoying the scenery. :)

Quotes from the State Fair:
"Sit up and eat your fried pickles"
"It's a fried peach...EAT IT"
"Lily, sit down and watch the pig races"

Croup...NO fun!

It's been a crazy couple of days at the Willson house. Spanky woke up at 1 AM Wednesday night with a terrible barky cough and was breathing really hard. We called the pediatrician and after a steamy 20 minutes in the bathroom and 5 minutes breathing in the freezor air the nurse advised us we needed to take him to the ER to be seen. Thank you to our dear friends who took Darla and away we went to the ER in the middle of the night. Always an experience...

We got right in and they gave Spanky a breathing treatment and some medicine and monitored him for a couple of hours. At 6:45 am, we thought things were going well, they were getting our paperwork ready for dismissal and the attending Dr. came in to go over dismissal. That's when Spanky let out a big ole barky cough and started "striding" again. Dr. says, "that changes it all, I'm keeping him". SO, to the peds floor we went for observation. He had a good day and was actually doing much better in the evening but after a short walk to the play room he was again striding so they thought it would be best if we stayed. Much to Spanky's frustration. He wasn't too excited about staying, he kept saying, "I just want to go home"! Poor little guy. Luckily they do have a great little play room for the patients and really he was quite happy visiting the play room. :) He was VERY upset when the play room closed for the evening, but keep in mind, the child had slept maybe 2 hours since 1 AM. T-I-R-E-D!

He was very excited when he had a some visitors. Aunt Robin and his cousins came to see him and his big brother and sister came to see him as well. He enjoyed watching "Ratatoulle" with big brother in his hospital bed.

He had a good night sleep and was able to come home Thursday morning by lunch time. We were all glad to be home and resting in our own beds. Thank you to all our great friends who helped with baby Darla while we were taking care of Spanky. That was the LAST place she should be with all the crazy bugs going around so THANK YOU!!!

Below is Spanky snuggling with Henry, whom grandma and grandpa sent to him, Spanky checking daddy's blood pressure in the toy room and Spanky snuggling with big bro.

Bear Bear

Spanky was the proud keeper of the Class Mascot, Bear Bear this weekend. Spanky took this job VERY serious, for the first day anyway. :) Each week, one student is selected to take home the class mascot and report back what all they did. Here are a few pictures of Spanky and his buddy, Bear Bear.

While Bear Bear was a guest at the Willson house, he played cars with Spanky and daddy, he played the piano with Spanky, he's quite good. He joined us for dinner, he really liked the hot dogs and Mac and Cheese. Turns out Bear Bear is quite the cuddler. He enjoyed cuddling with Spanky and Darla on occasion and Friday night was SUPER cute helping to feed Darla her bottle...the moment was over before I got a picture and Bear Bear and his buddy had moved on to bigger and better things and weren't interested in "recreating" for the camera. :)

Bear Bear returns to the class tomorrow. It will be a sad return for everyone and we look forward to his return in the Spring Semester.

Celebrating at School

Spanky got to celebrate his birthday at preschool with his school buddies. They had Buzz Lightyear cupcakes for snack. They sang "Happy Birthday" to him with his "Birthday Hat" on and his teachers gave him a very sweet panda bear, which he loves to snuggle with at bedtime.

Good times!!!

Happy Birthday Spanky!

WOW...what a weekend! We are all exhausted and all are sleeping except mommy! :)

We had a FANTASTIC weekend with all of the family here to celebrate Spanky's 3rd birthday! Saturday kicked off the party with a big birthday party with all the family and friends. We had a bouncy slide, WORTH EVERY PENNY! Spanky played in it all day and night!! We had a Buzz Lightyear themed party. So the moonwalk, Pizza Planet Pizza, space chips and fruit, and of course, BUZZ Cake and ice cream! YUM! We also had a rocket pinata that the kids had a blast with!

Sunday all of my family was here, so we all met at the zoo for lunch and all 19 of us enjoyed the zoo!! It was a great day and Spanky has so much for with all of his cousins. He also had a blast with Uncle Rick...I think he wore Uncle Rick out a little...he's used to girls...Spanky is a little more "energetic" than girls! :) Thanks Uncle Rick!! It was a great day at the zoo, got to feed, "Romeo" the giraffe, saw the penguins, bears, gorillas, lions, elephants, tigers...they were all up close and personal which was awesome!

Yesterday was a day of REST! For mommy anyway...I enjoyed a great nap while John and Miss Rascal took care of the little ones. THANK YOU DADDY AND MISS RASCAL!!

New Sport

We have SO enjoyed the wonderful weather these past few days. Spanky has found a new love and that is Soccer! He is pretty good too...little scrapper. He wears out his dad while his dad is trying to wear him out. Pretty fun!! He's favorite is kicking it up the high, then back down and running as fast as he can to get to the bottom. Great exercise for him and dad both!! :)

Maybe there will be a new soccer ball in his bag of birthday surprises this weekend.
