CCAP Field Day

Spanky's preschool has a field day at the end of the year.  We were a little bummed as it was pouring rain and too wet to participate outside.  Of course it cleared off in time for snow cones, can't beat that! :)

Here are some of the activities they did...
Ball Bounce...

Ball hop...

Race keeping the ball on the stick...

Sack Race...
(the moms were remembering our sack races in the old gunny sacks...they've come a long ways!)

Hula Hoop Race...
The teachers tradition is to race the kids...so FUN!

Balance the bags on your head and drop in hoop.  The girls hair bows were very useful to prop the bags on their heads.  :)

Chicken toss, don't see that everyday! ;)

Future CCAP students!

The sun came out for the snowcones!

The BoYs!
Spanky's little buddies from PreK this year.  The only three boys in the class, all great kids!

Spanky had a really great time at field day...he loved all of the games!

WhAt A WeEkEnD...and a monday!

We had a great family weekend.  John and I took in the Nickleback concert for date night Friday night and then Saturday was all about the kids!  Soccer was cancelled so naps all around and a movie night!  Gearing up for movie night Spanky was so cute getting his popcorn, blanket and he wanted Darla RIGHT next to him and sharing the blanket.  She did pretty good to oblige his desires as long as her toys were close by.  He was very sweet to her as long as she stayed out of his popcorn! :)
Toys, popcorn, sibling love...NOTHING better! :)

He gets away with not sharing at this time...

During breakfast Saturday morning Spanky was eating at the bar, then disappeared for a bit and came back.  I was in and out and didn't realize what had happened until I noticed his spoon was different....

He decided he'd trade in his modern day spoon for one of the antique spoons from John's family to finish his breakfast.  He didn't leave a spot open though, he replaced the antique with his own spoon....Sneaky!

Darla is learning so many new things every day...here is her newest trick!

She can hold her own bottle!!!

Sunday evening we were blessed with some special company.  John's "little brother" Trevor and his wife and adorable daughter visited us for a BBQ!  Trevor was John's litte brother from the big brothers/big sisters program many years ago.  They have stayed in touch and we are so proud of Trevor!!  He is currently in the Navy in LA and has a beautiful and sweet wife and the cutest daughter EVER!!

And now for the MONDAY!
You know, Monday is my work day.  I did get a lot done...I got the laundry done and COMPLETE, you know, not only washed but folded and put away!  That's the worst part...can I get an "AMEN"?  Anyway, on top of all that I worked on some garage sale things pretty much got "caught up" on some things around the house, feeling PRETTY good and then...
AFTER I got both kids in the car I went to open the garage door and NOTHING.   I was VERY resourceful before calling Hubby.  I checked the electricity, all fine, I climbed a ladder to check the motor up top, I tried and tried and tried again...nothing!  I even tried lifting the silly thing myself!  Didn't budge much!!  Well, after trouble shooting with Clara, John's secretary and John we weren't much further....finally I called the door company and sure enough, the spring is BROKEN!  AUGH!!  I said, Okay, great, we know what's wrong with it...how do I fix it and get the door open, did I mention I had an appointment with my trainer in 20 minutes and the Y is 20 minutes away???  She says, "Well, you can try to lift it yourself, (ALREADY DID THAT) but other than that, NOTHING!  NOTHING!!  I have never felt so TRAPPED in my life!!  AUGH!!! After a quick text to the slavedriver...AKA trainer, I'm like you'll never believe this...he responded...YOUR RIGHT I don't believe you!!  :)  It's like "The dog ate my paper" excuse for school.  Anyway, quick thinking I ran to the barn (shiver) got the barn truck (DOUBLE SHIVER) and hopped in.  Changed the car seats real quick and away we went...what an HOUR!  At least Ben could still see me and he got a good laugh out of the deal!!  I'll have my garage door fixed tomorrow....HOPEFULLY!

So after a great work out, things completed and a Monday almost over.  I came across a little visitor in an "unknown" location of the house.  It's a classified location, therefore I can't tell you where the visitor was hanging out, but he was a visitor I was not allowing to stay.  NO, it wasn't spiderman, batman (Spanky's "friends" that visit regulary)...but it was....

SNAKEY...
(who is also a "friend" of Spanky's, but I like the "Friend" version instead of the "REAL" thing!)

SO, the certified Snake hunter was on the mission....

Yes, my husband is crazy!!  That man killer could turn at any second...but he thinks puckering up to our little visitor is funny...therefore, BLOGWORTHY!!

Okay, off for today...such busy weekends!!  I don't get to blog as much through out the week so you get really long blogs after the weekends!!  Tomorrow is the last day of school for Spanky...sniff sniff!! It's been a great year!!!

9 MONTHS...and one week

Lil' Darla is 9 months! I know I say it every month, but really where does the time go!??  We are enjoying her so much!  She is at such a fun stage with smiling and laughing.  She totally digs her brother and loves her time with Alfalfa and Miss Rascal too!  She is becoming more interactive with Spanky, he loves to entertain her MOST of the time.

She has two teeth on the bottom and must be working on some more but no visual signs just yet.  She is very vocal in what she wants.  She's pretty easy to understand and she's still pretty mellow for the most part.  She is a great sleeper...LOVE THAT!  She hasn't started crawling yet but she's getting pretty close...you'll see in the PHOTO MONTAGE that she's getting closer...just needs to take that first "crawl". :)  Currently though, she would just like to sit in one spot and if she needs something she will holler until you bring it to her.

She is seriously a hoot when it comes to talking with her eyes.  She can see the whole room and tell you a story without moving her head, only her eyes.  She continues to be a daddy's girl.  She will be as loud as she can until she gets what she wants and that would be daddy!  She's a good eater...we've started doing more table food and she's enjoying that.  So much so many times if she doesn't really love her baby food, she'll let you know by blowing it back at you.  Yes, clearly she knows her manners!

We are so blessed by all of our children and thankful for these fun days while the little ones are little...SO...without further a due...here are her's DARLA!

First year of Preschool winding down

Spanky is just about to finish his first year of preschool at CCA.  We have SO loved this program and just been amazed by what he has learned, how he has matured and how he has become such a little BOY!

To finish up the year, because I am behind in the blogging, here are a few of the last events we've done the last month.

The last field trip!  I LOVE that they take 4 field trips!  SERIOUSLY...4!!  The last trip was to the awesome fire station.  Now really, I was totally interested in this as well!  I remember visiting the Hays fire station on a field trip because it was the closest to my home town that had "REAL" fire fighters.  Where I'm from they have volunteer fire fighters who are just as "Real" but they don't live at the fire station.  SO, anyway, my memories was of the big pole that the firemen slid down in the event of the fire.  Much to my disappointment the firemen informed me that they are not allowed to slide down the poles anymore, and most new stations don't have them...too many knee injuries.  Weird....Anyway.  The kids learned LOTS of useful information, the usual, "Stop, drop and roll" and some other facts that I as a parent hadn't thought of like, "Don't Hide, Go outside" and "Fall and Crawl" and to NEVER be scared of the firemen if they have to come rescue you.  It was a really great learning experience and the kids thought it was great.  The each had a turn "driving" the fire truck, they got to see where the firemen sleep and work out and they got to watch a cool movie, which started Lindsay Lohan...another WIERD...I think she may have taken some of her own advice in that movie, but that's just between you and me.

Anyway it was super educating for me and Spanky and we really enjoyed the day with his friends, the "mom's" and the awesome teachers!

The class with the cool fire truck and super cool fireman

Checking out where the firemen sleep

Getting to meet all the cool firemen and get stickers from all of them!
We also had the Spring Program.  This was SO CUTE!  The teachers go to a lot of work for this program!  They had a video of the kids throughout the year...so cute and amazing to see how your child has grown throughout the year.  They also sang about 20 minutes of songs.  Great songs and actions too.  The kids did a great job and the teachers as usual were awesome!  Alfalfa was able to join us for the program and Spanky LOVED that his brother was there to watch him.  Of course there were yummy cookies after the show! :)

We are down to the last couple of days of school!!  Then SUMMER...CRAZY!!!  We have field day and an ice cream party so stay tuned!!

Great Mother's Day

What a fun weekend we've had!  Friday I had a CAbi show with some friends, Saturday morning bright and early we ran the River Run, Saturday afternoon the kids blessed me with a NAP! :)  Last night we enjoyed my two mother's day gifts...a swing set for the back yard and patio furniture for the deck.  It was a little chilly outside, however we were going to use it!! :)

Today my family blessed me with Bath and Body and getting to church ON TIME!! Oh the small things that matter. :)  When we came out of church many of the cars in the parking lot had been blessed by the youth with window chalk "happy mother's day" but MY car was the best...chalked by my AWESOME Step Son!! :)   Yes that says, "Step mom of the year!"  So cute!!

We enjoyed a great lunch with our dear friends and Darla got a sweet kiss from her friend...so cute!!!

The rest of the afternoon we enjoyed another nap, played with the kids and here in a bit after the Spanky goes to bed I'm going to relax with my last piece of dessert and catch up on my DVR...BLISS!! :)

Happy mother's day to my awesome momma!!  And to my sisters and friends!!  LOVE YOU!

River Run 2010

Today Miss Rascal and I enjoyed a great time at the River Run.  I did the 10K....finished 1:03 and was pretty okay with that.  After having a back injury this winter and really wondering if I was going to be able to run I was pretty pleased.  Miss Rascal did an AWESOME job in the 2 mile finishing in around 21 minutes!  I was so proud of her!!  It's always such a fun experience and atmosphere down there...saw lots of familiar faces!

Me coming to the finish line.

Walking With Dinosaurs

Well, I've been out of blogger land for a couple of weeks, but we've done some FUN activities since I've blogged last.  I'm going to start with our awesome experience of "Walking with Dinosaurs".  Spanky and I went with our good friends' C and Jenn.  We were wondering what the boys might think about the dino show.  These dino's are REAL LIFE versions of what once walked the land.  The boys really enjoyed it and I did too!

Little Dino showdown!

Coolest hat in the room! :)

Then Jenn treated to snowcones...is she CrAzY!?!? :)

When T-Rex came out the crowd roared...some whaled...I WANT TO GO HOME!

But not our boys, they just roared right back!
